Bronx HRA Medicaid offices: addresses, phones and hours
HRA’s Medicaid locations page lists two Bronx offices, checked on November 3, 2026. HRA publishes the hours below and does not publish appointment or walk-in rules for either office, so call before you go.
| Office | Address | Phone | Hours (HRA) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rider Community | 305 Rider Avenue, 4th Floor, Bronx, NY 10451 | 718-742-3897 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Fordham | 2541-2549 Bainbridge Avenue, 2nd Floor, Bronx, NY 10458 | 929-252-3230 | Mon–Fri, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
When people search “Rider Medicaid office,” they mean Rider Community on the 4th Floor of 305 Rider Avenue in the South Bronx. Fordham, on Bainbridge Avenue, is the second office and the only other one HRA lists in the borough. Neither office lists Saturday hours. The other four boroughs are on the citywide list of HRA Medicaid offices.
Bronx SNAP centers and Benefits Access Centers
Bronx HRA walk-in sites are spread across six addresses, and the names overlap. A Medicaid office handles Medicaid, a SNAP center handles food benefits, and a Benefits Access Center (BAC) handles Cash Assistance.
| Site | Type | Address | Hours (HRA) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crotona | SNAP center | 1910 Monterey Avenue, 5th Fl., Bronx, NY 10457 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Hunts Point | SNAP center | 845 Barretto Street, B-Level Fl., Bronx, NY 10474 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; work requirements 8:30–9:00 a.m. only |
| Crotona | Benefits Access Center | 1910 Monterey Avenue, Bronx, NY 10457 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Fordham | Benefits Access Center | 2541-2549 Bainbridge Avenue, Bronx, NY 10458 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Concourse | Benefits Access Center | 845 Barretto Street, Bronx, NY 10474 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Hunts Point | Benefits Access Center | 847 Barretto Street, Bronx, NY 10474 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
| Rider | Benefits Access Center | 300 Canal Place, Bronx, NY 10451 | Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. |
Two pairs trip people up. “Rider” is both a Medicaid office (305 Rider Avenue) and a Cash Assistance BAC (300 Canal Place). “Fordham” is both a Medicaid office and a BAC at the same Bainbridge Avenue address, so ask for the Medicaid office on the 2nd Floor.
Who needs a Bronx HRA office and who applies with NY State of Health
HRA says it accepts Medicaid applications from people 65 or older, people with a disability or blindness, people on Medicare who are not parents or caretakers of minor children, and former foster youth under 26. Everyone else applies with NY State of Health, online or at 1-855-355-5777 (TTY 1-800-662-1220), and never needs the 4th Floor at Rider Avenue.
The state Health Department adds that more people outside the income-only rules are now covered through NY State of Health, including people with both Medicare and Medicaid, people 65+ not seeking long-term care, and Medicare Savings Program applicants. It also says that wherever you start, staff will help you apply in the correct place.
| If you are… | Start here |
|---|---|
| Under 65 and applying on income | NY State of Health |
| Pregnant, or applying for children | NY State of Health |
| 65+ and need home care or a nursing home | HRA: ACCESS HRA or Rider or Fordham |
| On SSI, or using the Excess Income (spend-down) program | HRA |
| Disabled without an SSA disability decision | HRA, which refers you for a state disability review |
The full logic of the split is in where to apply for Medicaid in NYC.
Applying from the Bronx on ACCESS HRA
HRA lists ACCESS HRA, at a069-access.nyc.gov/accesshra, as a way to apply for Medicaid online and to submit renewals. For someone in Riverdale, Throgs Neck or Wakefield, it replaces a trip across the borough to Rider Avenue or Bainbridge Avenue.
- Confirm HRA is your door with the table above. Income-only applicants under 65 go to NY State of Health.
- Make copies of your documents first. HRA says to submit copies, not originals.
- File on ACCESS HRA and save the confirmation. The date on it is your application date.
- Do not wait for a missing paper. HRA says the application is deferred so you can provide it later.
- If HRA asks you to come in, call the Helpline at 1-888-692-6116 and ask whether Rider or Fordham has your case.
Changes of address and case updates also go by form and fax rather than a visit. The forms, MAP-751K and MAP-751W, are linked from our Medicaid forms page.
What to bring to Rider Community or Fordham
For HRA-type (non-MAGI) applications, the state Health Department lists what must be documented. Bring copies of each item that applies:
- Citizenship or immigration status. A U.S.-born citizen with a valid Social Security number is usually verified by a Social Security match; a naturalized citizen brings a naturalization certificate or U.S. passport.
- Age, if Social Security cannot verify it, such as a birth certificate.
- Four weeks of recent pay stubs if you work.
- Other income: Social Security, VA benefits, pension, unemployment, child support.
- Proof of address: a rent receipt, landlord statement, mortgage statement or a recently mailed envelope.
- Medicare card and any other insurance card or policy.
- Bank accounts, insurance policies and other resources if you are 65+, blind or disabled and applying for nursing home or community long-term care.
HRA requires proof of Medicare from applicants 65 and older and makes Medicare enrollment a condition of Medicaid for those not yet enrolled. A missing document does not stop the application; the state says you will be told if proof is needed.
Interpreters at Bronx HRA offices
HRA says it provides free interpretation at all walk-in sites in about 180 languages, and you can ask for an interpreter at any time. When no bilingual worker is available, staff use HRA’s telephone interpretation service. You can bring your own interpreter as long as that person is at least 18, and you can show HRA’s “I Speak” card at the desk to identify your language.
Make the request when you check in, not after the interview has started. Do not use a child to interpret: the interview covers household income, family members and immigration status, and HRA’s own rule sets the age at 18.
If an office refuses an interpreter, HRA accepts language-access complaints through 311, anonymously and regardless of immigration status. More on interpreter rights in health care is on our language access page.
“Necesito un intérprete en español, por favor. Vengo a solicitar Medicaid con HRA.” (Or in English: “I need a free interpreter in [language]. I’m here to apply for Medicaid with HRA.”)

What this page cannot tell you is how long the wait will be: HRA does not publish it. If the office number rings out, the Helpline can confirm which office holds your case. Local context on getting to care in the borough is on the Fordham and Mott Haven pages.
