NYC Med News is independently operated. We are not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with any hospital system, insurer, medical practice, or government agency, and we do not sell placement in our coverage or our lists. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the disclosure appears on every affected article.
Sourcing standard
- Every factual claim about a program, a price, a deadline, or a legal right is attributed to a primary source, linked, and dated.
- We do not publish a figure we cannot source. “Roughly,” “reportedly,” and “some estimates suggest” are not sourcing.
- Where sources disagree — and on health coverage in New York, they often do — we say so and show both.
- Where a rule is genuinely unsettled or pending, we say that too, rather than picking the tidier answer.
Updates and freshness
Health coverage rules in New York change on a schedule and sometimes off it. Our practice:
- Every article shows its publication date and its last verified date.
- Seasonal guides (open enrollment, Medicare AEP) are fully re-verified before each season, not merely re-dated.
- We do not change a date without changing the content. A date that moved means something was checked or corrected.
- When a change is substantive — a threshold moved, a deadline passed, a program ended — we note it in the article.
What we don’t publish
- Medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or symptom triage.
- Quality rankings of individual clinicians. We report verifiable facts about practices; we do not grade care.
- Patient reviews, testimonials, or before-and-after material.
- Anonymous claims about a named practice or clinician.
- Content produced by or paid for by a practice, insurer, or vendor.
Anonymity and pen names
Our editors publish under consistent bylines with stated areas of coverage, and each byline is reachable by email. We take responsibility for everything published here as a publication.
Use of AI
We use AI tools for drafting structure, summarizing public documents, and reviewing our own copy. Facts are verified by a person against a primary source before publication, and editorial decisions are made by people. AI is not used to fabricate quotes, sources, statistics, or expert commentary — ever.
Reader data
We don’t want your health information and we don’t collect it. There are no symptom forms, no appointment forms, no third-party advertising trackers, and no social pixels on this site. See Privacy.
Corrections policy
Write to editor@nycmednews.com with the page and what’s wrong. We aim to respond within two business days.
- Errors of fact are corrected as soon as we confirm the correction, with a dated note at the foot of the article.
- Outdated information — a program that changed, a practice that moved — is updated and the “last verified” date changes.
- Requests from practices: a practice can ask us to correct its details, or to be removed from a list entirely. We honor removal requests. We do not honor requests to move up a list, to remove a competitor, or to delete accurate information.
- We do not quietly delete articles. If something is retracted, the page says so and why.
