Questions people ask
Are these calculators free?
Yes. Every tool on NYC Med News is free, needs no account and runs in your browser; nothing you enter is sent or stored.
Can a calculator tell me if I’m approved?
No. The tools apply the published 2026 thresholds. Programs and hospitals decide on a real application, which can count income differently, so apply even if a result is close to a line.
Where do the numbers come from?
From the 2026 federal poverty guidelines and the thresholds that NY State of Health, the state Department of Health and New York law publish. Each tool page lists its sources with the date we checked them.
